Hungary 2023 (Day 3)

July 26th, 2023

We are continuing our service at the summer camp. We started our day off with a morning devo given to us by Noah Blondo one of our senior boys followed by Jeremiah Cachie leading us in worship. It was such a great way to start our day off ready to be used.

We all came together and ate breakfast. Both groups of kids have become comfortable with each other. We try our best to learn Hungarian words so we can talk with them and the Hungarian kids do the same. The time between breakfast and lunch is free time where we spent some more quality time with the campers.

After lunch, we all gathered together for worship and the word. The camp worship team chose songs that we would know in English. As we began to worship we heard the combination of both English and Hungarian for the first time. It was a surreal moment, the kids were able to see how the church is one body no matter what differences we may have. Unfortunately, after the message and worship, it was time for us to go, it was bittersweet for both groups. Even though we only spent a day and a half with each other, it felt much longer and much deeper.

We left the camp and headed to our bus station at 4 pm. We arrived back in Budapest just with enough time to change and get ready for the 6 pm service at Calvary Chapel Golgotha.

Service at Golgotha was an amazing experience. Head Pastor Németh János took a second to introduce us to the congregation and thanked us all for coming from the pulpit. The kids were blown away by how fun worship was and the new experience of having to listen to a translator. They met a number of Budapest natives who approached them and asked them how our trip was going. We will all have the opportunity to spend time with Pastor Janos Sunday after the 11 am service.

After service, we headed out to get some famous Hungarian ice cream, it very much lived up to the excitement. On our way back to the hostel we made one last quick pit stop at a grocery store to buy some much-needed late-night snacks. Once in the hostel, we had a debriefing meeting going over the day and going around and sharing our experiences. Amazing day number 3
