Today was our big VBS day at Vese. To give some background, George and Icu have a church building in Vese where they have been ministering every other week for about 10 years to the local community. The community is largely impoverished and many of the children have low education levels. We had about 25 people in total, including parents and children.

Doing the smaller VBS earlier in the week was a huge help, and it showed in our singing, teaching, and acting. We had many opportunities to present the gospel through the story of the prodigal son, the skit, and the gospel necklaces. After the teaching, we had a rotation of various stations, including balloon animals, face painting, glitter tattoos, and the gospel bracelets. After the stations, we were able to feed everyone dinner, which was a major blessing for the mothers and their children. George and Icu were greatly encouraged by our being there, and one of the moms remarked how much she enjoyed the day with her boys.

Today was our fourth full day of service and everyone was coming into it feeling a bit tired and worn, but this morning during our group devotion we looked at Psalm 133 and focused on the theme of unity asking that the Lord would continue to keep us in unity with one another and provide us with the strength we needed for the day. He graciously answered our request! I was reminded of Paul’s words in 1 Cor. 3:6-9, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.” Today was a day of planting and watering. After we leave George and Icu will continue that work, and we will continue to pray that God would bring an increase.
